I did a solo day trip for this and it was absolutely incredible, sometimes being alone in a tour group is a little awkward. So I want to especially call out Jayson and Mel for their amazing customer service. Leading up to the tour date, they ensured I had all info and was set up to go. Day of, Hawaiian Airlines wouldn’t let me on the original flight, so I had to meet the group an hour later. J & M ensured they’d wait for me so I didn’t miss any of the experience. Mel was extremely knowledgeable about everything we did and more, we would not have had the same day without him.  You can tell these people love what they do and it rubs off on the visitors. Hawaii Volcano National Park tour was amazing! We did the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park tour with Kevin and it was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable about the Big Island and Hawaii in general, and kept the tour so interesting the entire time! He took us to so many great locations in Kona and Hilo, as well as the volcano national park. We highly recommend this tour with Kevin — you won’t be disappointed! An Enchanting and Unforgettable Journey with Lisa! Our Road to Hana tour with Lisa was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Lisa is incredibly friendly and has a unique way of making you feel completely connected to the road and the surrounding nature. As we drove, she beautifully explained the island's plant life—we even got to try fresh local fruits like strawberry guava right along the way!What truly sets Lisa apart is her deep knowledge of ancient Hawaiian tales and myths, which brought the landscape to life. Her genuine friendship with local vendors and residents made the entire experience feel authentic and enchanting-you can clearly seee she does a lot for the community :) She was incredibly flexible with each stop, ensuring we got the most out of every destination. We saw stunning turtle beaches, beautiful waterfalls, and gorgeous scenery, all while enjoying delicious food and fruit throughout the day. Great tour Darcy was great. He got us to places we wouldn't have seen in a big bus (we were in a van) and had tons of great stories. We were very disappointed that we weren't given a heads up by the company, even the day before it morning of) that we couldn't snorkel (brown water restrictions). I also would have like to have spent more time at a few places, but i understand it's a group experience. One of the Best Tours I’ve Been on Papa P was a spectacular tour guide. He was extra caring with his customers, providing us with snacks, soda, ponchos, and clear bags when he didn’t have to. He took us into Polynesian Cultural Center and took us around to the best shows & activities. In the car ride, he told us stories about his life and Hawaii. The scenery was breathtaking, the tour was good and a great experience. However, the tour ended after 8 hours, not the advertised 11. At some sights, we only stopped briefly for photos, which was a real shame. The lunch break at the black sand beach could easily have been extended to 90 minutes. The guide was good and very knowledgeable, but I got the impression he wanted to end the tour early... I can't say who it was, though, as he didn't introduce himself. Therefore, only 4 stars.

The rainforest and the Road to Hana are truly impressive. Unfortunately, it rained, and there were hardly any stops except at the aforementioned highlights. So, you can only really experience the road and the wilderness firsthand. The highlights themselves, however, were all very worthwhile (black lava beach with a small lava tube, swimming in the waterfall's pool, other viewpoints overlooking the rainforest and coast). Driving yourself wasn't an option, so I highly recommend it.

I absolutely loved this trip! Christopher, our guide, was great and made our day exceptional. He is a very careful driver, his commentary was interesting and just the right amount of information. Beautiful stops all day long. I highly recommend this trip. One caveat: the pick up organization was really bad. I had to wait almost an hour - and everybody else, too. Our experience with this excursion to Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park was nothing short of incredible and easily one of the most memorable parts of our trip. From start to finish, coordination by Aloha Sunshine Tours was seamless. They handled booking all four flights for us (two per person), which made what could have been a complicated itinerary feel effortless. We opted to “splurge” on this excursion—approximately $1,200 total including flights—and it was absolutely worth it. The day began very early with a flight from Maui to Honolulu, followed by a second flight to Kona. Upon arrival, we were promptly picked up by our guide, Jim C, whose energy and storytelling truly defined the experience. Traveling with a small group of 11 guests in an air-conditioned van, the entire 11-hour day felt engaging and well-paced thanks to his enthusiasm and knowledge. Our first stop was Greenwell Farms for coffee, followed by Punaluʻu Black Sand Beach, where we were fortunate enough to see several green sea turtles basking in the sun. We then stopped at Punaluʻu Bake Shop, where we enjoyed delicious malasadas and picked up sandwiches to bring along for a picnic later in the day. The highlight, of course, was exploring Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park itself. We visited multiple gift shops, hiked approximately one mile along a volcanic crater, and even had the chance to view the bubbling lava of Kīlauea through Jim’s personal telescope—an unforgettable moment. We also walked through a massive lava tube, adding to the sense of adventure and scale of the landscape. Additional stops included sightseeing in Hilo, with visits to Big Island Candies and Rainbow Falls, both of which were great additions to an already full itinerary. The tour concluded with drop-off at the airport for our return flights (Hilo to Honolulu, then Honolulu to Maui), wrapping up what was the longest excursion we’ve ever done—but also one of the most rewarding.

This private Road to Hana Rainforest and Waterfall Experience was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Maui. The views were absolutely incredible—lush rainforest, dramatic coastline, and waterfalls around nearly every corner. It’s hard to put into words just how beautiful the drive is, and having the freedom to stop and take it all in made the experience even better. What truly made the tour exceptional was our guide Jason. He was born and raised on Maui, and his local knowledge and personal stories brought the entire journey to life. He knew all the best spots, shared fascinating history about the island, and made sure we experienced places we never would have found on our own. The private format made the day relaxed and personal, and we never felt rushed. If you’re visiting Maui and want to experience the Road to Hana the right way—with incredible scenery and authentic local insight—this tour is absolutely worth it. Aloha Sunshine Tours Big Island Volcanoes tour with Mel our personal tour guide. From day one booking, customer service was awesome!!! Booked all our flights from Oahu to the Big Island and our helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours. Right off the flight Mel was ready to go. Following our air tour of Volcano National Park. Mel did an incredible job covering Hawaiian history, culture and science of the islands. We could not have asked for a better guide. Our tour guide was amazing!  He literally walked us through the entire process.  Our plane was late and he helped us get where where we needed and held the van for us! We took the volcanoes National park tour from Kauai. We had a great time in our bus and touring  with an exceptional guide and driver. Ask for Mel if you want a true vision of all the islands. This native Hawaiian man gave us an in-depth understanding about the history of Hawaiian culture, and offered a glimpse of what the future may hold. We toured on March 2, 2023.
